Chatham, Ontario, is home to approximately 46,000 people. Both safe and affordable, Chatham has activities, parks, and recreational opportunities for those of any age. In addition to the many area farms, the last few years has seen the opening of a number of vineyards. There are two Provincial Parks – Rondeau and Wheatley, with Point Pelee being nearby as well. There are also numerous local conservation areas. With nature comes wildlife and Chatham is no exception.

Numerous species of birds can be found in abundance in the area for those that are avid bird watchers. Situated near several bodies of water, the abundance of fish makes it an ideal destination for those who enjoy fishing. With water comes water sports and in the summer months many enjoy scuba diving, wakeboarding and kite surfing. A lovely beach can be found at Mitchell’s Bay.  In addition, for those who prefer land sports, the Chatham-Kent area has 9 golf courses in use 10 months of the year. There are historical sites dating back to the war of 1812, museums, classic car attractions and an annual festival that attracts thousands, galleries, theatres and family-focused attractions available throughout the year.  The Age-Friendly area is host to many festivals throughout the year (including the Ontario Senior Games) making it a great destination for both visitors and residents of all ages.
