Retirement Homes
Are retirement homes in Ontario regulated?
Sam P Bowmanville, ON

Yes, Ontario is one of 4 provinces that has regulations. The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) www.rhra.ca, a not-for-profit organization, licenses and inspects retirement homes in Ontario to ensure that they follow the law. They keep a Public Register of all homes which can be found on their website. They enforce the Retirement Homes Act, and play a role in educating the public and retirement homes about the regulations and their role.
