|Spencer House is located just west of Highway 11 in the lovely lakeside community of Orillia. This not-for-profit long-term care home, which is managed by Leisureworld, opened in 2006 and embodies the latest and most progressive thinking in long-term care design. As a not-for-profit home, Spencer House has a Board of Directors whose functions include fundraising for items such as therapy equipment and strengthening connections with residents, families, volunteers, staff and the community. The Board is fundraising for a bus for resident outings, creating the “Tree of Life” – a beautiful piece of artwork in the home’s lobby where contributors “buy” a leaf which then bears their name. Opting for either private or shared accommodation, the 160 residents who call Spencer House home enjoy the attention of caring and dedicated staff. Numerous events and activities are held regularly, some where the whole community is invited and others just for residents, their families, and friends.
